The Comfort Mini and Excellent MiniPlus are specifically designed for confined spaces, and the Excellent MiniMax consists of two separate parts that you hang up. The fitter brings along several types and checks whether installation in the meter cupboard at your place.
“Doesn’t a magnetic descaler work just as well?”
No. A water softener actually removes the limescale from the water through ion exchange. With magnetic systems, the limescale simply remains in the water; this is what they say the studies on this subject. More claims of this sort can be found at facts and myths.

Where does the limescale go in a water softener?
The water softener filters the limescale out of the water and traps it in the softening salt. How much electricity does a water softener use?

If you do not have these options, the unit will operate without any electricity. The water softener itself operates using water pressure.
Is a drain always required for a water softener?
Yes, a water softener always needs a drain. During the process, water, limescale and excess salt need to be drained away. Do you want to install the water softener somewhere without a drain? Don’t worry – our engineers are creative when it comes to finding a suitable solution.
Is it worth softening cold water?
Yes. Cold water also contains just as much calcium and magnesium as hot water. At home, it is often heated anyway – for example, in the coffee machine or the dishwasher – where limescale build-up still occurs. In addition, over time, cold water leaves limescale marks — think of the build-up in your toilet bowl — because the water evaporates and the dissolved limescale remains behind.
Can you operate a water softener using a remote control?
Yes, the Mooiwater comes with a remote control that is directly connected to your water softener. You can operate and monitor the unit without having to be right next to it: you can switch holiday mode on or off and check the water consumption and salt level on the screen. It’s handy in any case, and almost indispensable if your water softener is in a hard-to-reach place, such as in the crawl space.
Is a water softener quiet when in use?
Yes. You won’t hear a thing whilst the water is being softened: the water flows silently through your pipes. It’s only during the flushing cycle — which happens once every few days and lasts about a minute — that you’ll hear a slight humming sound. If your water softener is in the meter cupboard, you’ll only hear it when you open the door.
