FACT: Electricity-free water softeners with a single resin cylinder regularly produce hard water

Power-free water softeners usually come with two resin cylinders. This makes sense because the resin cylinders are flushed as soon as they have softened a preset number of litres of water. This can therefore happen at any time of day, even whilst you’re having a shower or your dishwasher is running! At that moment, you’ll have hard water, which is something you want to avoid. Because the resin cylinders are usually very small, this rinsing takes place approximately every 1m³ water consumption. So if you use 150m³ If you use water like that, you won’t have soft water 150 times a year!

If you purchase a flow-free water softener with two cylinders, the other small cylinder will still be available whilst one saturated cylinder is being flushed. However, you do pay a hefty price for this. If you were to buy the single-tank water softener – which is much more attractively priced – you’d need to bear in mind that very often you won’t have soft water have.

That is why we almost always supply electric water softeners because they can be programmed. They only flush when there’s no water usage anyway (usually at night) and, what’s more, only once every two weeks. One of the many benefits electric water softeners.
