FACT: Mooiwater water softeners are as efficient as 100% models – you simply can’t use any less salt!

The salt consumption of a water softener determines the efficiency of the unit. In every (genuine!) water softener available on the market (time-controlled, volume-controlled or a combination of both), the softening process takes place through a simple chemical process. In this process, 1 calcium²⁺ ion and 1 magnesium²⁺ ion are always exchanged for 2 sodium¹⁺ ions. Once the resin is “saturated” with calcium and magnesium, it must be cleaned and is then rinsed with brine (sodium). This process is the same for all (genuine!) water softeners.

So far, there is no difference between the various water softeners available on the market.

Salt consumption during rinsing

It is only during the rinse cycle that it becomes clear whether the rinse is carried out efficiently (using as little salt as possible) or inefficiently (using more salt than necessary). Only volume-controlled units and proportional time + volume-controlled units (such as the water softeners from Mooiwater) can operate with 100% efficiency. Depending on the rinsing method used, high or even very high efficiency can be achieved! Our Compact range is highly efficient, and our Excellent range is in fact the most economical system on the market. It is impossible to achieve lower salt consumption than that of our Excellent range (assuming the same water hardness and water consumption).

When making a purchase, it is therefore wise to consider both the purchase price and the efficiency. Only the combination of a competitive purchase price and 100% efficiency will give you the best starting point for your considerations.
