The system achieves this by calculating on a daily basis whether regeneration (rinsing) of the system is required or whether it can be postponed for another day because the resin can still absorb sufficient limescale.

Rinse cycle

If a rinse cycle is required, the system will calculate exactly how many litres of brine need to be produced a few hours before regeneration. Never too much (which would result in high salt consumption) and never too little (which would prevent the resin from being rinsed properly). An additional advantage is that the salt bed remains dry; the salt tablets are not submerged for days or weeks, but water is only added at the very last moment to produce the brine. This prevents the formation of lumps and a thick salt cake, thereby avoiding blockages and contamination.
