Myth: Water softeners with two resin cylinders are better

When the resin is rinsed, a water softener produces beautiful water There will be a very temporary lack of softened water. Fortunately, this only lasts a short while and occurs just once every few weeks (depending on the type of water softener, water consumption and water hardness) at a time of your choosing. This is usually at 3 am, when there is virtually no water usage.

And if, by any chance, water is used at that moment, it is indeed not soft water, but the amount is very small.

Disadvantages of a 2-cylinder water softener

Water softeners with two resin cylinders do not suffer from this problem and always supply softened water. However, this is offset by the cost of the two resin cylinders. After all, one cylinder simply costs less than two. Furthermore, whilst one of the two resin cylinders is being backwashed, the limescale-free water can only be supplied by the other cylinder, which reduces the water pressure during backwashing. With two cylinders, you therefore experience a loss of pressure, whereas with just one, this is barely noticeable.
