Working together for the very best water: Mooiwater, Kiwa and the new regulations

At Mooiwater, we really only have one goal: to ensure that you can enjoy the tastiest and softest water every day. Because our products – from water softeners including filters and pressure boosters – As our products come into direct contact with your drinking water, we take safety extremely seriously. That is why we work closely with organisations such as Kiwa to comply with the latest European regulations: the Drinking Water Directive (DWD).

What is the Drinking Water Directive (DWD)?

Everyone has the right to clean and safe drinking water. That is why the European Union has drawn up the Drinking Water Directive. This directive ensures:
• Safe materials: Everything that comes into contact with our drinking water, such as taps, water pipes and water softeners, must meet strict requirements. This is because no harmful substances must leach from the materials into the water.
• A new approach: There are stricter controls on new types of pollution, and greater attention is being paid to groups of people who currently still have difficulty accessing safe drinking water.
• Key dates: From 1 January 2027, all new products must comply with these strict European regulations. Products currently on sale have until 2030 at the latest (and in some cases 2032) to bring themselves fully into compliance.

Why we are proud of our partnership with Kiwa

To guarantee the quality of drinking water, all products must undergo extensive testing. In the Netherlands, Kiwa is the undisputed expert in this field. As a body designated by the government, Kiwa is in fact the only organisation in the Netherlands authorised to issue this important certification. Thanks to Kiwa’s rigorous checks, we at 100% can be absolutely certain that our materials are safe. This means you can turn on the tap with complete peace of mind.

Always in accordance with European regulations

Not all our components come from the Netherlands, but the same strict requirements apply throughout the EU. Each country has its own equivalent of Kiwa (known as ‘notified bodies’). Whether a certificate is issued by Kiwa in the Netherlands or by a comparable body in another EU country, the quality is equally high everywhere and the certifications are officially valid.

Together with our suppliers

Mooiwater oversees this process. We work closely with all our suppliers to ensure that every component has exactly the right documentation. As Dutch drinking water standards have always been among the strictest in the world, we have absolutely no concerns about this certification process.
Together with Kiwa, we ensure that Mooiwater will continue to stand for safe, soft and crystal-clear water in your home. Because only the very best is good enough for your tap!
